Hi Subscribers to what once was “The Waypoint Dispatch” You remember me as The Catholic Adventurer, writer and podcaster for the apostolate of the same name on Substack. So you must be wondering, “Who the hell is T.J. Haines, and what on earth is the Catholic Firebrand?!?!” Let me explain why you’re getting this.
You very graciously subscribed to this newsletter when it was the Waypoint Dispatch. For reasons I won’t get into, things have changed a lot for me since then. I’ve stopped using the “Catholic Adventurer” name, I’ve rebranded the apostolate to “Stoking the Embers” and did some other stuff. Now I want to use this newsletter for precisely what you signed up for, and also a little extra.
I do a lot of work. I have a lot of observations and a lot to say. This newsletter is where I bring it all together from across my publications, channels, socials—plus a little more that I intend to only share here from catholicfirebrand.com. I’m not doing it on Substack because the post composer is very limited on there, plus I want something disconnected from Substack’s ecosystem. Sort of my hideaway where I share tales secrets and wisdom with my friends (you)
I really hope you stay subscribed, because what you signed up for is what you’ll get from this newsletter (plus a little more) but I totally understand if you bail out.
Here is my “About” page that will explain this a little better. You may decide to stay, or you may unsubscribe more quickly, who knows. God bless and be with you guys. Tim Haines (T.J. to my friends and family) signing out.
